The Valedictory for the Outgoing Class X Students is a significant and momentous event at Young Learners’ School. It marks the culmination of the students’ academic journey, symbolizing their successful completion of high school and their transition into the next phase of their lives.
The ceremony is a formal and dignified event that brings together graduating students, their families, teachers and school officials to celebrate this important milestone. It is a time to recognize and honor the achievements, growth, and hard work of the graduating class.
The Valedictory for the Class of 2022 was held on 10th March, 2023 in the school auditorium. As the students took centre stage, parents looked on joyfully while teachers experienced mixed feelings of pride and sadness.
Walking down the aisle to the sound of Pomp and Circumstance in their Sunday best, it was a moment packed with emotion for all. As the students stood tall on stage in all their splendour, each one had their moment of glory as their names were read out to a resounding sound of applause. Each was presented a memento.
The Choir had the audience in rapt attention with the soulful rendering of the Year Theme Song. One of the highlights of the ceremony was the Passing of the Baton which symbolizes the passing on of the mantle of leadership. The Outgoing Head Boy and Head Girl passed the baton and was received by the new Head Boy and Head Girl on behalf of the students.
The Valedictions by the Head Boy and Head Girl touched many hearts and brought tears to many eyes as the students nostalgically reflected upon their journey and expressed their heartfelt gratitude for all the learning they had received over the years.
In his commencement speech, Rev. Alan L. Thiek inspired the students to stand firm and not to give up like the Apostle Paul. He further encouraged them to do their best in the journey of their lives.
The Principal in her heartwarming speech, encouraged the graduates ‘not to dwell too much on what did not happen because what does not happen should not define us. It is what we do that define us’.
Sir Goumin and Ms. Grace presented the Awards amidst much joy, cheer and applause as the beaming students received their awards. The faces of the nominees projected on screen added much fun to the presentation too.
The memorable function drew to a close with the recessional which signifies the end of the students’ high school journey and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
